Local residents invited to view updated plans for Balgray Wind Farm

Leading independent renewable energy developer, Fred. Olsen Renewables is set to host three public events in November to provide an update on the proposals to develop Balgray Wind Farm.

The project, located 6km north-east of Lockerbie, has changed since the first round of events and now consists of six turbines up to 200m to tip alongside battery storage – a reduction in the number of turbines and the height. Once operational it will be capable of delivering over 80MW of green energy and will provide a community benefit fund of more than £7m (index linked) throughout the lifetime of the project.

Residents are encouraged to attend the forthcoming events, where they will have the opportunity to meet with members of the Fred. Olsen Renewables project team, learn about how the plans have changed, examine visual representations of the project and provide their valuable feedback.

Nathan Liddell, Project Manager at Fred. Olsen Renewables, commented:

“I look forward to welcoming residents to our public exhibitions. The events will provide an excellent opportunity for the local community to learn about how the plans have changed since our first events in February, have their questions answered and provide their feedback ahead of an application submission.

“The plans on display have been amended following feedback we have gathered throughout our consultation. This includes removing one turbine and reducing the turbine height. I hope that everyone with an interest in the plans will be able to drop in and meet the team.”
